Dual-Action Scar Care Kit for Post-Cesarean Wounds

Summary

This technology, developed by a team of clinical medicine experts in South Korea, is a specialized scar care kit for post-cesarean wounds. It addresses the limitations of traditional scar sheets such as reusability issues, poor hygiene, and ill-fitting dimensions. The kit comprises a 10g silicone gel and a one-month supply of occlusive silicone adhesive tape. During the day, both components are used together to enhance occlusion and protection, while at night, only the gel is applied to allow skin recovery.

This dual-care system improves both hygiene and user compliance, offering functional and emotional value. It is suitable not only for individual postpartum use but also as a gift item. Ideal partners include medical and healthcare distributors, online gift platforms, and OEM/ODM manufacturers.

Advantages and Innovations

As cesarean delivery rates rise, more mothers seek effective scar care solutions. However,

existing products often suffer from inconvenience and low compliance due to poor

usability and inconsistent performance.

This kit offers a dual-action approach specifically designed for cesarean wound care.

Its main components are:

• Silicone Gel (10g): Promotes skin barrier recovery, moisturization, and reduces

the risk of hypertrophic scars.

• Occlusive Silicone Tape: Prevents evaporation, protects the wound from external

friction, and enhances the gel’s efficacy. Designed for one-time use to ensure hygiene.

Application Routine:

  • Daytime: Gel + occlusive tape for continuous occlusion and protection.
  • Nighttime: Gel-only application for skin rest and reduced irritation.

This regimen maximizes therapeutic benefits while minimizing skin irritation, supporting prolonged use. Studies have shown that combining silicone gel with occlusive dressing

significantly improves scar outcomes (Zurada JM et al., J Am Acad Dermatol, 2006).

The kit is optimized for typical cesarean scar lengths (10–15 cm), but offered in roll

format to accommodate individual variability. This overcomes key drawbacks of reusable

sheets such as the need for washing, drying, trimming, and issues with adhesion and skin

irritation.
