The competitiveness of the product is the synthesis ratio of film-making materials. Unlike existing lead tap film companies, a SME has different manufacturing technology that forms a multi-layer structure without using adhesives. Reasons for multi-layer structure.

- Center layer (pressure and hydrofluoric acid gas cut-off caused by internal electrolytes when battery current flows) – material should be dense.

- Skin layer (completely sealed between metal and pouch heterogeneous materials) – should be highly adhesive

There are several types of lithium ion batteries on the market such as pouch type, square type and cylindrical type, particularly the film is used for pouch type battery. Manufacturing pouch battery is required a high level of bonding technology because both sides of the film are in contact with Al(aluminium) and Cu(copper) metals respectively. The lithium-ion battery is consisted of cathode & anode, electrolyte, lead tab and pouch which is packing material. The lead tab provides an electrical connection of the lithium-ion battery’s cathode & anode plates to the outside. The role of the film is to seal the lead tab and pouch.

The films produced by Korean SME is sorted of three-color literary(light yellow) type, gray type, black type, all of three-color films have different features that literary is specialized insulation and safety without layer-by-layer delamination, gray is designed for large size battery such as EV(Electronic vehicle) and ESS(Energy Storage System) and black can be widely used for electronic components and power electrical devices.
